Dev Log 8 (08/04/2025)
Hello everyone,
It's Justin here, I am in charge of Character Modelling and Animations for the Player and Bosses of Y0K.AI. I have some updates regarding the Animations and what we at Neon Night will be doing from this point onwards.
First off, our previous dev log stated that we entered Beta 2 weeks ago. We are now preparing for a playtest session this upcoming Wednesday to get a better feel for the game. This is also to gather feedback regarding the new level, ' The City and The Void, ' and the dialogue system.
As for character animations, we recently updated the player animations to fix the time between each hit, meaning it would have smoother and quicker transitions from chain 1 to chain 2. We also made the swings of all the characters more snappy, as previously the animations were slower and harder to predict and successfully dodge. Whereas the new animations will telegraph the animations better, and the player will have an ample window of time to dodge incoming attacks.
After the upcoming playtest session, we are planning to implement phase 2 animations for the 2nd and 3rd bosses once the current animations have been fully polished and make balancing adjustments to the game before the release date.
